Enjoy your visit to York in this privately run guest house. We are in a quiet road off the main road with ample car parking,.

We are situated adjacent to the beautiful York Race Course, which is as pleasant for a scenic walk as it is for the races. It is only a 10 minute walk to the ancient walls surrounding the City with its many and varied places of historical interest.

Our seven en-suite bedrooms offer a variety of accommodation. We have family, double and twin rooms, all with emphasis on cleanliness and comfort. By popular demand the guest house is strictly non smoking. For those who find stairs difficult we have two rooms on the ground floor.

All rooms have full central heating, colour televisions (with teletext and remote control), tea and coffee making facilities, radio alarm clock and hair dryer.

York is by comparison a small City and all the historical attractions are within walking distance of each other. There are also several stately homes, abbeys etc, to visit only a short car or bus journey away. The coast is approximately one hours drive away.

York was founded over two thousand years ago by the Romans. York is a living example of England's most beautiful and historic cities, set in the picturesque Vale of York and surrounded by many towns and villages each offering you a different glimpse of Yorkshire. Fascinating museums and historic attractions, cobbled streets, like the famous Shambles, medieval walls and gateways, gardens and parks etc, all offering you a very warm welcome.

The City is dominated by the magnificent York Minster, surrounding which are unspoiled Medieval streets for you to wander through at your leisure.

You are sure to enjoy your stay in York and with Granby House being centrally situated you are only a few minutes walk from all the attractions (e.g: Yorkshire Museum, National Railway Museum, Art Gallery, Treasurer's House, Heritage Centre, River Trips etc).

We will be happy to advise you on where to go and what to see during your stay and can offer trips and walks led by local guides.

Granby House is a privately owned Guest House in a Victorian Terrace, situated in a quiet position off the main road.

We can offer twin, double and family accommodation (including ground floor bedrooms) at very competitive prices - with discounts for groups, Senior Citizens and Business Guests.

In addition, because Granby House is privately owned and managed by us, we can give careful attention to your individual needs, allowing you to enjoy yourself exploring the ancient City of York and perhaps venturing further afield to the North Yorkshire Moors, Dale and coast - no more than an hour away.

How To Find Us

Granby House is situated on Bishopthorpe Road, 5 minutes walk from York City Centre.

By Rail: York is only 2 hours from London or Edinburgh and we are 10 minutes walk from York Railway Station.

By Road: We are situated close to A1036 (Tadcaster Road), a main city route, accessible from the arterial roads, the A64, A1 and M18/M62.
